A Note from the Author
This book took root as the twentieth century was coming to a
close and a new millennium had embarked with fresh
beginnings. For some, it is an exciting time and for others,
it brings a bit of nostalgia. Not yet being of the
walking-cane age, I clearly remember the horse-and-buggy
days. I distinctly recall riding a mule to school on
visitor’s day at Otterdale’s one-room schoolhouse to see my
older brother and sister. The past becomes deeper and deeper
until it is finally buried and if left alone, it will die.
This book is trying to keep part of it alive. Life-loving
characters provided the fodder that fed the stories that
made the book.
